Concept Creation | Graphic Illustration
Created in 2009, VRXSI looked to establish a lifestyle MMA apparel company inspired by elements and iconography from Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, MMA, and fighter mottos and philosophies.
Scope
The scope was to create a summer and fall collection that reflected take the brand philosophy translated it into vibrant designs for different lifestyles.
Process
After the first approach with VRXSI’s team, we establish to section the styles by season, and theme. We discussed the nitty-gritty details such as inspirations, ideas, print options, deadlines, strategy, etc. Research and mood board, historic-photo research followed. I worked on initial sketches, and first design drafts, to end with the creation of several design styles for review.

We encountered several constraints on photo copyrights and print capabilities, leading us to change the design approach to an illustration-based style and to change the concepts to something youthful and more commercial. Although illustration is not something that is my forte, I could explore another aspect of my creative capabilities.
Outcome
At the end of the project, the client had a solid design line that could produce and sell but to my surprise, the company went to a different “strategic direction,” focusing on a different business model.
